One of the leading voices for voting rights has died.
Lani Guinier was the Bennett Boskey Professor of law emerita at Harvard Law School.
She was the first woman of color granted tenure at the university.
Guinier was nominated to lead the US Justice Department's Civil Rights Division in 1993 by President Bill Clinton.
Guinier was surrounded by family and friends when she passed away.
